Living Large, The Biggest Trees in the World *

* Not the tallest or widest, but the largest by volume

Today was basically Sequoia National Park. Lots of winding roads and big trees. Beautiful forests and rock, being of the same mountain range as Yosemite national park futher north. A beautiful thick fog/low cloud blanketed the valley hiding the agricultural land below the parks. Being a weekday, it was very quiet and the weather has apparently been mild recently so there is no snow blocking the roads. This evening we arrived in Yosemite after dark, so can't wait for the morning to see what by the moonlight seems to be an incredible prospect.

Tunnel log - a fallen Sequoia tree cut out for the tourist to drive through

A living sequoia. Big ones are about 25 feet in diameter and about 2500 years old! Although they look squat they are very tall...

Lots of wildlife on show today, which wasn't really apparent in the deserts previously (or New York!). Today we saw a deer, lots of squirrels/chipmonk things, and a wolf.
