First day in NYC!

They have let Marek in to the US and so our first day in NYC is past. Didn't do a lot, checked into our hotel and went to the MOMA which had a solid but not amazing collection of paintings, but not really anything else of note. A museum of modern art 'over six floors' = lots of stairwells, atriums, cafes, bathrooms, a restaurant and not much actual art! But today we are ready to be wowed by more museums/galleries including the Metroplitan museum of art. We finished off yesterday with a meal at the michelin starred 'The Modern' restaurant where the food was excellent and the table servce also excellent, if a totally stressful and interupting experience with constant water/wine top-ups, changing in cutlery, plates, glasses, mini between course tasters etc. Also had the culinery experience that is a NYC hotdog stand! Ended by a stroll along broadway to times square. Amazing energy in the place on a saturday night (neon ads, traffic including cop cars and taxis and big white vans just like in the movies, and pavements (or sidewalks!) overflowing with people). Blog out, got to catch the subway to the Cloisters!

Our plane, the 'scarlet lady'. Virgin Atlantic are sound airline, but food was bad quality (even relative to other airline food!) and there wasn't much of it. But entertainement was good and on demand.FDNY. We out of the subway from the airport and the first thing we saw were half a dozen firetrucks and men in full kit. False alarm though. Twin towers site is behind.Hotel room.View from hotel room. Not quite a brick wall! We are on the 15th floor. A few photos from MOMA (jacket required at the restaurant, don't worry I don't wear a jacket outside of work for those who haven't seen me recently...).
